3D printed modular buildings in Thailand: promote sustainable development of the low carbon construction industry

Summary: Top 10 most typical 3D printed house cases in the world

Can the combination of low carbon mortar and 3D printing technology really push the construction industry towards green and environmental protection?

On December 3, 2024, according to the resource library, in Thailand, the 3D modular printing construction project led by SCG Cement Group enteredThe second phase of development. The heart of the project is the use of a low carbon mortar, a special concrete formula that can considerably reduce carbon emissions in traditional concrete production.

SCG has successfully developed low carbon mortars that capture and store carbon dioxide by integrating alternative materials and waste into the formulation. This mortar not only reduces waste, but also converts it into precious resources, reducing dependence on traditional cement, offering a new path to sustainable development for the construction industry.

This 58The square meter building consists of six prefabricated modules, each carefully designed according to its specific functions and dimensions, reflecting the great potential of 3D printing technology in architectural design. In particular, the curved wall design percime not only the limits of traditional buildings, but also shows the endless 3D printing possibilities in shaping. The weight of each module is controlled in10In tons, it ensures the convenience of transport and assembly on site, while maximizing the efficiency of the construction.

The structure of the project building uses a steel frame to ensure stability and sustainability. The modules are precisely connected via a dry seam system to form a flexion frame, which not only ensures the sustainability of the building, but also improves its safety of use. In terms of structural analysis, the structure is always in optimal condition using the Robot Autodesk software and finite element analysis technology (FEA).

During the construction process, the project is divided into three stages: site preparation, factory production and on -site installation. The place is ready for 10Completed in a few days and made simultaneously with the production of modules. The production process of the six modules lasted 33 days, including 3D printed walls, steel structures and a finish.Once the module is finished, it only takes 5.5 hours to install on site after 150 kilometers of transport, and the final finish is completed within 7 days. The entire construction period is 41 days, which is almost half shorter than traditional construction methods.

SCGCement Co., Ltd. hopes to promote the widespread adoption of 3D printing technology through this project, in particular in the application of low carbon building materials. The combination of 3D printing technology with low carbon materials offers a powerful path to achieve global objectives for reducing carbon emissions.
