On May 13, 2025, according to the Resource Library, Philips recently published an innovative plan called “fixable”, aimed at allowing consumers to repair personal care products via 3D printing technology.

The project opens up 3D print replacement component files for certain products, and users can print them at home, thus carrying out a practical and efficient maintenance experience. The objective is to promote sustainable development by extending the life cycle of the product and reducing electronic waste.

The project is still in its infancy, and the first download component to be launched is a 3 mm limit comb used in a razor. Philips promises to gradually expand the scope of support for the future to provide 3D printed replacement parts for more products.
Face daily wear, by making repairs within
The fixable platform focuses on solving natural wear problems caused by personal care products for daily use. Philips provides 3D printed replacement parts that meet its high -quality and safety standards to help users maintain equipment performance while continuing their lifespan.

In this way, consumers can save both maintenance costs and resource waste. The program has been controlled in the Czech Republic (PRUSA Research Headquarters) and will be promoted in more regions in the future. All 3D printed files for replacement parts will be available for free on printable.com.
Encourage independent maintenance culture and evolve towards a circular economy
Philips noted that up to 77% of European consumers tend to repair old equipment rather than replacing it, but due to the lack of practical repair methods, most people end up buying new products. The launch of the fixable project is to resolve this point of pain.

By opening 3D file printing spare parts and guaranteeing their quality, Philips hopes to extend the accessibility of repair services to meet the needs of more practical consumers. This project not only offers consumers more maintenance options, but also actively guides the public to form a lifestyle that focuses on maintenance and saves resources.
