This year marks Elegoo’s 10th anniversary.
Three major turns in the ten -year trip
Fabbaloo: Elegoo now sells a variety of 3D printers and related devices. What are the most important decisions you face in the past ten years of development?
Kevin Wang: Elegoo’s trip is like climbing a summit after another, still targeting high places and continue to move forward. We have experienced three major twists and turns in the last decade, each having shaped who we are today.
In 2015, we started with the STEM Electronics suite and became the Sales Champion of the Arduino suite on Amazon in 2018. In interactions with users, we find a strong link between STEM and 3D printing, because the two attract manufacturers, educators and creators around the world. This overview prompted us to extend our business for the first time and to enter the field of 3D resin printing.
At that time, 3D printers were either expensive or complicated to operate. We saw the opportunity and started trying, starting with the resin printer. Despite the challenges, we love challenges! Our series March and Saturn quickly gained popularity among users, and the first Saturn printer launched in 2020 sold 3,000 units in three minutes in presale, becoming an important step for us.
In 2022, we made a second round, launching the Neptune series of FDM printers. Especially since the Neptune 3 series, this series was a success with its reliability and its affordable price. But we know that we must continue to move forward.
In 2023, we realized that it was time to transform the company as a whole, and it was our third round. We have increased our investment in R&D and the construction of brands, in order to become a technological company, to create an ecosystem that integrates hardware and software, serving all those who want to create, promoting intelligent manufacturing and inspiring inspiration. The Centauri Carbon series launched last month proves our progressive success and also shows that we move in the right direction.
Until now, Elegoo products have been sold to more than 90 countries and regions, with sales of millions of units. Last year, our income exceeded $ 200 million US dollars and the size of our team was close to 700 people. This growth allows us to continue to open better 3D printers, more innovation and stronger support to make the printing experience more fluid. We believe that 3D printing has a huge future and our mission is to provide everyone with a unique and intelligent creative space, whether passionate, a designer or someone who likes to transform your creativity into reality.
Challenges and performance of the market for major FDM printers
Fabbaloo: Orangestorm Giga is a very different FFF device with an oversized print volume. What challenges have you encountered when you go from little to big equipment? How is this device sold? What are the main users?
Kevin Wang: Orangestorm Giga is our first attempt to create an FDM 3D printer capable of industrial production. Its 800 mm x 800 mm x 1000 mm printing volume and its 300 mm / s printing speed combine size, speed and precision, which is very rare in the general public devices.
The scaling of an office printer has such a large device is not easy. The biggest challenge is its massive size, which imposes new requests on our supply chain, our logistics and our manufacturing capacities. Therefore, we published it in November 2023 via the Kickstarter platform to test market demand and optimize production. The answer was very enthusiastic, raising $ 3.5 million, which was far beyond our expectations.
Since then, Giga has found a solid user base among designers and professionals who need a large format impression. Last year, we visited a creator who bought nine Giga printers for creative projects for the French fashion brand Louis Vuitton and the production of automotive parts. Giga not only prints large objects, but also manufactures functional parts that can be used directly for production, which is perfectly in accordance with our vision of intelligent manufacturing.
The future of resin and FDM printers
Fabbaloo: How do you see the future of 3D resin and FFF 3D printers? Will one of them dominate? Will Elegoo continue to sell the two types of devices?
Kevin Wang: the resin and FDM 3D printers have their own advantages, and the two will continue to develop and evolve in their respective ways in the future. The input threshold for FDM equipment is low and the user base is wider, particularly suitable for beginners. Resin printers, while offering higher precision and more detailed models, are very popular in fields such as games and dentistry. We will continue to stimulate innovation in both areas, consolidate our leadership in 3D resin printing and extend our range of FDM products.
Of course, equipment is only part of the user experience. Last year at Formnext, we launched Satellite, slicing software for the development of resin printers. This year, with the release of Centauri Carbon, we also launched the FDM Elegoosliner slicing software. Our goal is always to provide the best user experience by building an integrated ecosystem.
Improve 3D resin 3D printing safety
Fabbaloo: What measures did Elegoo take to improve the operational security of 3D resin printers?
Kevin Wang: Security is always our absolute priority, especially in the field of 3D resin printing. Compared to FDM, resin printing requires additional steps such as cleaning and hardening, which can be somewhat complicated for certain users. Therefore, we follow industry safety standards and continually improve our products according to user comments.
We have masks, gloves and other protective equipment in the packaging, and repeatedly recall users to wear gloves, masks and even glasses when using the printer. We have also highlighted the importance of good ventilation. In addition, we offer dedicated air purifiers such as the Mars Mate air purifier, which helps filter resin smoke and other substances to create a safer printing environment.
Our latest resin printers, such as Mars 5 Ultra and Saturn 4 Ultra 12k and 16k, have also undergone certain upgrades – equipped with AI cameras for surveillance and accelerated shooting, allowing users to visualize the remote printing process. In addition, the ultra -designed Saturn 4 Ultra and March 5 Ultra and March 5 DRAWS PLACE Around the resin tank for the first time, which makes the printing process cleaner and safer.
We are always committed to making the impression of resin more practical and friendly. We will also continue to improve the user experience, so that more people can easily and with confidence to achieve precision and details of resin printing. Our next Jupiter resin printer will pass the resin printing experience at the upper level, so stay attentive!
SIMPLIFY The 3D printing experience
Fabbaloo: Many 3D printers manufacturers simplify the use of devices by offering an increasing number of predefined printing profiles, even third -party materials. What does Elegoo do in this regard?
Kevin Wang: We know that if the use of Elegoo or Third Party materials, an optimized printing profile is very important for users. Therefore, we have integrated this feature in Elegooslizer to make FDM printing more transparent. For resin printing, our satellite satellite of slicing software includes profiles preset for Elegoo resin and provides a library of equipment where users can share parameters for third -party resins and even other brand printers.
We are always looking for new ways to make more 3D printing, and there will be more updates in the future. When the time comes, we will share exciting progress!
Low -cost strategy for the Centauri series
Fabbaloo: The Centauri series is at the price well below the competition. How does Elegoo get there? What is the secret of low -cost production?
Kevin Wang: Before answering this question, I would like to emphasize that the low price of the Centauri series is not for low prices. As the quality of the printer shows, the cost is not low. We have chosen this price strategy to make 3D printing more popular, especially for beginners. In this way, more people can afford and live a comfortable experience. Our goal is to make the Centauri series the first 3D printer for anyone who has not yet owned a 3D printer, reducing the barriers to the entrance for 3D printing. Like the Xiaomi technological brand, we focus on the best value and user experience, allowing customers to benefit from the best technology at affordable prices.
The future of the office 3D printers market
Fabbaloo: How do you see the development of the office 3D printers market in the coming years? What important progress do you think you are there in the near future?
Kevin Wang: We see that the 3D printing industry has enormous potential. Here are some key developments that we plan to see in the near future:
-Ease of use: 3D printers will continue to become more user-friendly, offering a plug-and-play experience and a rich ecosystem. Users can start printing at any time, anywhere, using affordable materials and have a variety of models to choose.
– Stability: technology will improve in terms of reliability and will reduce the need for frequent maintenance. The modular design will facilitate the replacement of parts and the printing success rate will be higher.
– a largely wider popularity: as technology becomes more and more popular, more people will adopt this technology, which makes it part of our daily life.
In the long term, we are considering 3D printers to become a must for relaxation at home and creative spaces, such as home vacuum cleaners and other intelligent home devices. To make something a necessity at home, it must provide a high use, convenience and relevance for daily life, and office 3D printers meet these standards, both functional and relaxed.
There is also great potential for the integration of artificial intelligence, especially for those who do not know 3D modeling. We actively explore the technological progress motivated by AI to improve the user experience, make 3D printing more intuitive and unlock new creative avenues.
During the second decade of Elegoo, we are impatient to bring more surprises and innovations. With our users and all those who love creativity, we create the future through intelligent manufacturing.
