The original 3D printer, at a price of 5,800, is now erased with a fraction of it, and costs only 800 yuan, but it is always difficult to act. —— A seller of used fish
After hiding on the Salt Fish platform for a while, it is not difficult to see that the first generation of 3D printers becomes more and more “abandoned” by the time. But it seems that there are many more sellers than buyers, and these old machines have become unscrupulous. The reason is actually very simple: they are not only slow to print, but also have a higher operating threshold.
If the time had returned three years ago, these machines would have been sold. The equipment at the time was in fact similar and the difference in speed was not large. The default printing speed of 50 mm / s was considered the standard in the industry. If a machine is equipped with a color touch screen and even supports remote operation, it can already be classified as a “high -end product”. Manual leveling with a piece of A4 paper is also a routine operation. After all, many equipment was only “semi-finished products” when shipped at that time, and users also had to assemble it themselves.
But now these “master machines” are no longer popular, and they can only lose their hands.
In the past, Marlin firmware and Cura software were almost standard for 3D printers; Now, this combination is gradually replaced by Klipper and Orcaslier. A faster printing speed (standard equipped 250 mm / s) and more printing colors (up to 25 colors) allowed 3D printers of consumer quality to inaugurate the 2.0 era and gradually become the dominant current of the market. This is also why more and more users choose to eliminate old machines, hang them on savory fish and sell them at low prices, and buy new and more intelligent devices.
Just as everyone has long been used to using smartphones with a touch screen, the Nokia generation function phone was left by the Times. Regardless of the low price, it is difficult for anyone to pay.
With hindsight, most used 3D printers that are hung on salted fish and waiting for sale are at the price of approximately four or five hundred yuan. If you look carefully, you will find that most machines are door structures, mainly brands such as the creative and ailecool longitudinal cube.
Certain equipment with low brand recognition has lower prices and is almost in a “iron to close” state.
In addition, some closed all-in-one machines that have been imitated early by Ultimaker 2 and Makerbot styles. Although they are both used mobile phones, due to their higher material costs, they generally have a price of several hundred yuan more than open source models. But even if the overall price is not high, these machines are always unpopular. They are at a whole generation of the products that users want today, and the gap is not only a little.
To be honest, before Tuozhu knows, I always thought that the purchase and sale of used 3D printers have become a new blue ocean like a mobile phone. I even imagined that in the future, used special 3D printers stores could appear across the country. In addition to selling machines, maintenance services are also a good value -added company. They repair wherever they are broken and replace the accessories and update the firmware.
But now this company may not be as easy as I thought.
First of all, we must admit that the base of users of 3D printing is still very small and is not sufficient to support a used independent market. On the other hand, it is more realistic to allow the mobile phones repair workshops to provide 3D printers repair services at the same time.
More importantly, once technological iteration, early equipment will easily become like this: the recycling price is low and it is a waste of money. And there is another thing that is often overlooked than many equipment manufacturers now sell renovated machines themselves, and they are always best-selling models. For users who care about budgets, they prefer to choose these “new models” rather than removing an old machine that has long been obsolete.
If you really have a passion for 3D printing, it would be great to buy one and keep it in there, just think that it is to leave a memorial for the passionate DIY of this year.
Finally, I would like to ask, do you always remember your first 3D printer?
