On May 9, 2025, According to the Resource Library, Walmart Officially Launched its Second 3D Printing Commercial Expansion Facility in Hutntsville, Alabama Today, Following the Completion of its first 3D Printing Expansion Project in Tennessee in 2024. Building is 5,000 Square Feet (464 Square Meters) and will be dedicated to pick-up and delivery services for online Fresh Food Orders.

Advantages of rapid construction and costs

The expansion project was led by ALAQUIST 3D, a 3D construction company in Lorado, in the United States, and completed jointly with the commercial real estate entrepreneur FMGI. The project uses two 3D architectural print robots and a concrete formula specially personalized by Sika USA to print walls up to 16 feet (approximately 4.9 meters) layer per layer.

The whole construction team consists of five people. It only took 7 days and 75 hours to finish,Compared to traditional masonry technology, the three -week construction period is considerably shortened. It considerably reduces labor costs and on-site security risks, and also reaches a high degree of adaptability to serious weather conditions.

Technology and sustainability

“In the commercial construction industry, the project cycle and cost control is crucial.

According to ALquist, thanks to 3D printing, building material waste has been reduced by 55% and finally consumed only 75% of the materials provided by suppliers. This process also does not require the use of high -risk structures such as scaffolding, which makes the construction site safer and more efficient.

“This series of 3D printed construction pilot projects aims to explore innovative technologies that replace traditional construction methods while achieving higher sustainability. We hope to provide consumers with faster market response capacities by optimizing construction processes and shortening construction cycles, while promoting technological innovations throughout the construction industry.”

Not long ago, Starbucks announced that his first 3D printing store had been officially opened in Brownsville, Texas. 3D printing technology is increasingly recognized by traditional commercial organizations due to its benefits in energy saving, cost reduction and improving efficiency.
